My childhood fascination with Wuthering Heights, and the character of Heathcliff, informs the emotional tone of the piece.
The vast openness of the moorland is shaped by limestone formations and sweeping space.
Cool-toned boulders anchor the foreground, grounding the composition in geological presence.
They are set against the warmth of an expansive, luminous sky.
The foreground grasses are painted with thick, expressive strokes to evoke wild texture.
The central burst of light radiates across the land in hues of orange, gold, and magenta.
This illumination becomes symbolic, transforming the ground into a beacon-like path.
Through this, I explore awe, timelessness, and the romantic, untamed spirit of the Dales.
